Mainstream School
The mainstream team supports school children with many forms of physical needs and helps to maximise functional ability.
Who do we see: We see children and young people who have been referred to physiotherapy and who are in full-time education. This may include children with life long conditions as well as children who may require short term rehabilitation.
Where do we see children: Assessments and treatment sessions can take place in a range of settings including in clinic at The City of Coventry Health Centre or within school or home.
Assessments: We complete a variety of assessments including developmental, co-ordination and balance, gait analysis, musculoskeletal and pain management.
Treatment: Once referred you will receive relevant information and have access to the members section of the website. Treatment is determined by the outcome of the initial assessment and focued to meet the needs of the child. Treatment can be provided in a number of forms, which may include a Home or School exercise programs, one to one treatment sessions with a physiotherapist or technical instructor, group sessions and Hydrotherapy. We work in partnership with the educational services and other health professionals.
Group sessions we currently run include:
Modified Pilates: A mat based group session that exercises the upper and lower muscle groups and the core of the body. This has an overall effect on strength, flexibility, co-ordination and posture. These sessions run for 6 weeks Pilates Lealet
